Our Necklace features a genuine natural shell that has been carefully finished with a protective layer of microcrystalline wax. This coating helps preserve the shell’s natural surface, enhance its subtle lustre and provide added protection from moisture, dust and everyday handling. However, as the shell is a delicate natural material, it should still be treated with care.
To preserve your necklace:
• Keep it dry and remove it before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping.
• Avoid direct contact with perfume, hairspray, makeup, lotions, oils, sunscreen, cleaning products and other chemicals.
• Apply beauty products first and allow them to dry completely before putting on the necklace.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures and humidity, as these may affect the shell’s wax finish, cord and satin tassel.
• Handle the shell gently and avoid dropping or knocking it against hard surfaces. Natural shells may chip, crack or break under impact.
• Do not pull the necklace by its shell, connector or tassel. Use the sateen cord when adjusting or removing it.
• Store the necklace separately in its pouch or box to prevent snagging, crushing and contact with other jewellery.
• Hang the necklace carefully or lay it flat with the tassel straight to help maintain its smooth shape.
• If the tassel becomes slightly untidy, gently smooth the strands with clean, dry fingers or a soft, clean brush. Do not pull, trim or wet the strands.
CLEANING
Gently wipe the shell with a clean, soft and dry microfibre cloth. A soft brush may be used to remove dust from between its natural ridges.
Do not soak the necklace or use jewellery cleaners, alcohol, detergents, polishing compounds or abrasive cloths, as these may remove or damage the protective wax finish.
The sateen cord and satin tassel should not be machine washed or submerged in water. If accidental contact with moisture occurs, gently blot, do not rub and allow the necklace to air-dry naturally while lying flat.
